Diana Ross

Diana Ernestine Earle Ross is an American singer, actress, and record producer. Ross was born on 26 March 1944, first joining the group when it originally formed as the Primettes at the age of just fifteen and at the time still in high school. Ross became the lead vocalist of the group which were eventually signed by Motown records in 1962. Ross lead the group through huge success during the 1960s, later renamed as Diana Ross and The Supremes. Ross continued with the group until the early 1970s when she left to pursue a solo career.

Mary Wilson

Mary Wilson is best known as one of the founders and longest member of the Supremes, born in Greenville, Mississippi on 6 March 1944. Wilson remained with The Supremes from the beginning, despite Ballards departure in 1967 and later Ross mobing on to pursue a solo career. When the group eventually disbanded in 1977, Wilson's success continued with the release of 3 solo albums and two best selling autobiographies.

Cindy Birdsong

Cynthia Ann Birdsong became a member of The Supremes in 1967, when she replaced co-founding member Florence Ballard.Born in Mount Holly, New Jersey on 15 December 1939. Cindy had previously been a member of Patti LaBelle & the Bluebelles. Birdsong started making appearances as a stand-in vocalist for The Supremes in 1967 as Ballard missed several important gigs. She left briefly from 1972 - 1973 when she became pregnant with her son, eventually retiring in 1976.

Florence Ballard

Florence was the founder of the group which originally began as The Primettes, a sister groups at the time to The Primes. She was a key member of the trio up until 1967 when she was dropped from the group and replaced by Cindy Birdsong. She attempted to ignite her solo career with ABC records but unfortunately proving unsuccessful and eventually she was dropped from the label at the end of the decade.

Barbara Martin

Barbara Martin was one of the original members of The Primettes, alongside Ross, Ballard and Wilson. Prior to signing a contract in 1962 to become The Supremes, they spent their earlier years supporting at Motown records providing backing vocals and hand claps to some of the leading groups at the time. Martin contributed vocals to many songs on their first album, Meet The Supremes, but left in early 1962 as she became pregnant.
